Aika S. Granzchesta (藍華・S・グランチェスタ, Aika S. Guranchesuta) is one of the main protagonists of AQUA and ARIA. She is the heiress to Himeya Company, the oldest and currently second-ranking water-guide company in Neo-Venezia, and the first friend Akari ever made on Aqua.
Appearance[]
Aika is a teenage girl of slightly above average height with amber eyes. Her long hair is stylised into two thin braids that become ponytails which reach her mid-thighs. She wears the undine uniform in Himeya Company's primary colours of white and red. In accordance with the company she wears red spherical earrings. Additionally her hat is small, rounded and sits on the crown of her head decorated with the Himeya logo. Furthermore her heels are red with gold detailing.
Depending on the season she switches between the summer and winter uniforms, as is custom with all undines. The summer outfit consists of a cropped short sleeve blouse and a strapped under dress, with a slit for mobility, that reaches her ankles which has two red arrows on the back. Where as the winter outfit switches the blouse with a thicker cape styled top that reaches her lower back. In addition the dress is changed for one with longer sleeves to protect against the cold and paired with grey tights.
Later on, in Natural, a large portion of Aika's hair is burnt resulting in her cutting the majority of her hair off. Her new hair takes the form of a pixie cut with two short strands at the front, the left styled with four hairpins.
After the time skip between Origination and Avvenire, as a young adult, her hair has grown back out with the two strands reaching her upper chest still styled with the hairpins. In addition her longer hair is pulled into a small bun on the crown of her head.
Personality[]
Aika often speaks in an open and blunt manner, and goes out of her way to cut off Akari's many idealistic comments with a preemptive "Embarrassing remarks are not allowed!" (恥ずかしいセリフ禁止！, Hazukashii serifu kinshi!). Aika openly fawns over her idol Alicia, but secretly treasures the care of her mentor Akira.
Despite their contrasting personalities, she gets along quite well with Akari, and later with Alice. She is very proud of her Undine abilities, and tends to be very competitive in this aspect. She also worships Alicia, and finds any excuse to go over to Aria Company and spend time with her. Aika once said that if it was not for the obligation to her family, she would join Aria Company. Aika has feelings for Al.
