Alice Carroll (アリス·キャロル, Arisu Kyaroru) is one of the main protagonists of AQUA and ARIA. She is a prodigy Undine who was scouted by Orange Planet for her skill and has to split her time into going to school and training. She befriends Akari and Aika who she starts joint practicing with and although only being a Pair in comparison to a Single, her skill still rivals that of her friends.
Appearance[]
Alice is a young teenage girl of average height and light blue eyes. Her green hair is fairly straight and extends to her tailbone. She wears the undine uniform in Orange Planet's primary colours of white and yellow. In accordance with the company her hat is of a circular shape, with a pointed front that displays the logo, which covers her entire head. In addition her white boots are calf length with yellow straps.
Depending on the season she switches between the summer and winter uniforms, as is custom with all undines. The summer outfit consists of a cropped short sleeve blouse and a strapped under dress, with a slit for mobility, that reaches her ankles which has two yellow lines along the hem. Where as the winter outfit switches the blouse with a thicker cape styled top that reaches her lower back. In addition the dress is changed for one with longer sleeves to protect against the cold and paired with grey tights.
After the time skip between Origination and Avvenire, as a young adult, her hair (while still the same length) has significantly more volume and fans out towards her lower back. Its added layers and waviness frame Alice's figure and create a more stylised look
Personality[]
At the beginning, she is introverted and anti-social, but she lightens up as the series progresses. She often uses dekkai (でっかい, "huge") as an intensifier. Aika often addresses her as "kōhai-chan" (後輩ちゃん, "junior" said in a friendly manner). Through her friendship with Akari and Aika, Alice lightens up as the series progresses, though she still struggles with her detachment. For a long time, Alice was not confident in her singing skills, until Athena advises her simply enjoy what she sings and not worry about her performance.
Biography[]
Although initially only a Pair, her rowing already surpasses both Aika and Akari's—for which skill she was scouted by Orange Planet despite her young age. In volume 11 of Aria, after Alice graduates from middle school, she is promoted to Prima straight from Pair, the first undine to do so, and is given the title "Orange Princess" (黄昏の姫君, Tasogare no Himegimi, lit. "Twilight Princess").
